Getting ready to bake this cake for the 5th time. It’s become my husband’s birthday cake tradition. The recommendation to pair it with peanut butter frosting makes this cake! Going to be another voice for wishing we had the OG version of the recipe for tradition sake and for ease (instead of doubling or halving). Thankful to have the recipe regardless because this cake is that good.

Is there anyway to have the original marble cake recipe reposted again. It can get confusing doubling the ingredients and baking process. It was a popular one!!

I am not going to rate the cake, since I did not make the recipe as written. We can’t have dairy so I used fake butter (country crock sticks with olive oil) and almond milk as one for one replacements for the butter and milk. (I “soured” it with a touch of lemon juice for the buttermilk). It was delicious but a bit flatter / more dense than pictured. It also took closer to an hour to bake – not sure if that part is related to the substitutions.

I didn’t expect it to be identical, since real butter makes everything better. I’m sure it would be amazing as written, but regardless, I definitely recommend this cake with standard dairy-free substitutions, if that’s an allergen in your group.

Hi Courtney! I was trying to find the original recipe for the layered cake and I can’t find it anymore! I made it two years ago for my birthday party and it turned out so perfect that my friend still raves about it! Her birthday is coming up and I would love to recreate it – is there any way for me to access the original recipe? I agree, making two batter is a bit more work, but I found it sooo worth it, the original was perfect!
