I bake quite a lot and have made multiple recipes from cakebycourtney and I think this might be my favourite from this site. I made it for a braai (South African bbq) and it was so easy but such a crowd pleaser. I made for a group of about 25 (along with some cookies) and because it was so rich it went far and with some to spare.

This was a big hit for my daughters birthday! Everyone loved it. Cake was delicious, glaze is so good and the whip cream on top is not too sweet making it all so good together. Will make again!

In reply to Tiffany W Lambert. Shoot! Sounds like your oven might be off a bit. Have you checked the internal temperature of your oven with an oven thermometer?

Baked 30 minutes, then added more time in 5 minute increments. Not sure why but after 50 minutes the cake was still very liquidy and giggled like jello. Cooker for an hour before I could move it without it giggling. Didn’t make it any farther.

I had this cake the other and it was SO good. My question is my sister is obssessd with Nutella. Do you think I could switch the peanut butter for nutella or would it throw off the cake too much?

This cake was the best!!! It has a deep chocolate flavor and is very moist. But the best feature to me is how light and fluffy it is. Many chocolate cakes have great flavor, but they are often too dense and sit like lead. Not this one- it delivers wonderful flavor, but is still light and fluffy- and is super easy to make!! I’ll be using this for my go to chocolate cake recipe. Thx Courtney for another great recipe!!

I made thairdresserer’s Day 2024. I invited two friends, one being a father his favorite flavor being peanut butter. I used a dark chocolate cake mix due to preparing it Saturday night. It was a hit!! I told my hair dresser about it and she wants the recipe.

This cake is unreal. You’d think it would be really rich and sweet with the peanut butter, but it’s not. So perfectly balanced! I made this for my oldest daughter’s birthday, and everyone loved it. In fact, another daughter just texted asking for the recipe because she’s “been craving it.”

Woah! This cake is intense! Soooo good, but soooo rich. I can only eat a small bit at a time, which is probably for the best, haha. My 10 year old has already announced this will be his bday cake AGAIN next year. I just used regular cocoa powder and it worked great.

I have a question as to why you use the parchment paper in a 9×13 pan? I’m afraid it would make it more difficult to cut and remove a slice.

I made this for my husband’s birthday and it was amazing! My son had the best time helping make the whipped cream. I would definitely recommend this recipe!
